Events and venues we perform for in Bethesda

Typical Bethesda bookings include restaurant and boutique grand openings on Bethesda Row and Wisconsin Avenue, corporate events for the professional-services firms, federal contractors and headquarters offices in downtown Bethesda and along the Rockville Pike corridor toward North Bethesda, wedding receptions at hotels, country clubs and private estates, and Lunar New Year celebrations at schools and community centers. The medical community around the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed also books cultural performances for staff and family events.

Lion dance and Bethesda’s community

Bethesda's audiences are often seeing a full traditional lion dance for the first time, so we take a moment, when the host wants it, to explain the lion, the meaning of the drum and the choy cheng blessing before or after the performance. Because the neighborhood is so close to our school, Bethesda families are also among our long-standing students, and it is common for guests at a Bethesda event to recognize one of the performers.

Getting the lion to Bethesda

From Kensington we reach downtown Bethesda by Connecticut Avenue and East-West Highway or by Old Georgetown Road in minutes. Downtown venues generally have garage parking nearby; we ask hosts to arrange a loading spot for the drum and the lion cases. Bethesda Row and Woodmont Triangle sidewalks are busy, which makes an outdoor opening dance very visible, but performances on public sidewalks may require permission from Montgomery County or the property owner.
